The story of a 5-year-old boy, that lived in Sparta during II World War and the Nazi Occupation, was presented during the radio program “Panhellenic News”, which is sponsored every Wednesday 4-5 pm by the Panhellenic Federation of Florida, at TAN TALK Radio. Mr. George Kakridas who now lives in Boston USA, described his life in Sparta during the war, how he saw his friends and family getting killed by the Germans, and the difficult period that followed with the civil war in Greece. “I was 5 years old when the war started and I was 15 when it stopped. I still remember the nazi killing my young friend when they invaded our village”, said Mr. Kakridas. He is the author of the book “A boy growing under the Nazi Boot and the Greek Civil War”, available at Amazon.
Thanksgiving Dinner, by Chios Society of Tarpon Springs, on Sunday, November 19th, 6,30 pm, at the AΗEPA building in Tarpon, with the aim of collecting money for scholarships. Mrs. Anna Maragoudakis invited the Greek American community to support, as the goal is to increase the scholarships to $1,000 this year.
