Your show host Robert and special guest Johnny Rutherford. Johnny is most recognized as having won the "Indy 500" 3 times, 1974, 1976 and 1980 driving McLarens. Coming from a small town in Texas, "Lone Star JR" as he is often referred to, started racing modified stock cars in 1959 and worked his way up through Sprint cars, Nascars and ultimately Indy cars. In Nascar, driving for Smokey Yunick, he set a world speed record at the 1963 Daytona 500 and went on to win the 100-mile Daytona 500 his first time out. He drove for Bud Moore in 1964 and others in Nascar through 1988. Johnny has set many "First" records and won numerous championships. He has been inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and Sprint Car Hall of Fame. Johnny can be seen on a regular basis driving the pace car at most Indy events. He also lectures to audiences around the country and is regarded as the "Ambassador of Auto racing".
